How the Cup is scored and won
Two teams of eight, Team Anchor and Team Row, each with a captain. Four sessions over the weekend: Best ball, Scramble I, Scramble II, Singles.
The pairs sessions are four matches each (two-player pairings). Singles is eight matches, everyone plays. That is 20 matches and 20 points for The Broken Oar Cup 2027.
Captains set their own team's pairings before each session. Once a session's lineups are locked, they stay locked.
Every match is worth one point. A halved match is worth half a point to each team.
10.5 points wins the Cup. Banked points are the official score; the Board's projection just shows where things are heading if every live match ended right now.
A tie with no holder means the Cup is shared: co-champions. Once a team holds the Cup, they keep it on a tie.
Gross scores, no handicaps. On each hole the lower score wins the hole; equal scores halve it. A halved hole changes nobody's lead, but it still uses up a hole.
A match ends the moment one side leads by more holes than remain. Three up with two to play is a 3&2 win. Level with the number of holes left is dormie: the trailing side must win every remaining hole just to halve.
A match decided on the final hole is recorded as 1 up or 2 up. All square after the last hole is a halved match.
Holes are counted in the order they are played, so a shotgun start works the same as a first-tee start.
Gimmes are between the players and simply become the score for the hole. A whole match can be conceded by the side giving it up; the scorer records the winner and the point is banked.
If play stops for weather or darkness, a match can be finalized at any hole. The default is a halved match unless the captains agree otherwise.
Any played hole can be corrected by whoever is scoring. Every change is recorded with who made it and when. Once a match is locked by an admin, only an admin can change it.
Anyone with the link can watch the Board live.
To enter scores, unlock your phone with the Cup passcode and pick your name. Scores you enter are recorded under that name and shown on the Board.
Captains can set lineups for their own team. Admins can correct anything, lock matches, manage rosters, and rotate the passcode, which signs everyone out.
